About OVMS's Science Olympiad

Successful Oak Valley Middle School's Science Olympiad program is run by the parents. There are 23 events for grades 6-8. Jackie Trischman is the head coach of 2009-2010 Science Olympiad at Oak Valley Middle School. This program emphasizes problemsolving aspects of science and the understanding of science concepts. It helps students to increase their interest in science and achieve their full potential.

The PTA Reflections Program 2009-2010 program theme is,
"Beauty is.."

All students at Oak Valley are encouraged to participate and submit an original piece of art work in one of the six categories: Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Musical Composition, Photography and the Visual Arts.

The National PTA Reflections Program is designed to enhance a quality arts education and provides opportunities for students to express themselves artistically and to receive positive recognition for original works of art inspired by a pre-selected theme.

All entries must be submitted by October 26th, to the Welcome Center.

ART CORPS is a comprehensive, developmental curriculum which teaches artistic fundamentals by bringing process-oriented, hands on art experience to the classroom. The success of this program depends upon parent volunteers who are trained in workshops to teach art in the classroom. Over the past years our experience has shown the program provides students with a cumulative set of skills and experiences.

Parent Partners – Pilot program with 6th grade teachers (new for 2009/10).

Oak Valley Giving Tree – Support families in need around the holidays.

Middle School College Readiness Fair – Provide support and promotion for this informative event.

Red Ribbon Week/Drug Awareness/Making Good Choices/Personal Empowerment/ Character Building & Parent Education Nights – Highlights drug and alcohol awareness, promotes healthy choices based on character pillars and help for parents. More information to follow.

Hospitality/Staff Appreciation – OVMS to host the Council meeting in the fall. Various activities throughout the school year to show OVMS staff how much we appreciate all that they do.

Volunteer Registration and Clearances – on-going e-mail support for volunteer opportunites on campus.

WEB (Welcome EveryBody) – Financial support.

Item Swap-age Opportunites – Girls clothes, sporting goods, etc.
